In 2015, Universal would create their first Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store in the gift shop from the soon to close Twister attraction. To celebrate the 25th year of the event Universal created a store that not only sold merchandise, but also displayed props and costumes from different past years. Since then, the Tribute Stores have become attractions in and of themselves. They are heavily themed and the amount of work that goes into them is wild that calling it “just a gift shop” is an insult.
This years HHN (Halloween Horror Nights) Tribute Store drops you in the middle of a dystopian city being terrorized by a giant bat creature. You travel through a looted corner shop, spooky warehouse, bug infested sewers, and eventually come face to face with Batilida herself in the desolate subway station.
While the HHN Tribute is certainly spooky, there are no scareactors or jump scares making it safe for everyone to enjoy. It is also open during regular park hours, so even if you aren’t attending the event it’s worth taking a peak into. You will also find a majority of HHN merch here and a case filled with themed treats. Enjoy a brief video tour of this years HHN Tribute Store below:
It’s always a treat to walk through the Tribute Store and see what the creatives behind the event come up with. There are also a lot of fun Easter eggs that are fun to find and include a variety of other events such as the Holidays & summer. It rewards repeated walkthroughs & visiting previous Tribute Stores.
The Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store is a great way to enjoy a little bit of spooky without going to the whole event & a fun way to pick up merchandise.
